Sunnyside Church

Letter from Pastor DJ

Dear Sunnyside Church,

Merry Christmas to you! Wow, what a wild year it has been, right?!

Christmas is the season of miracles and we are believing for miracles this month and New Year! I’m writing to inform you on several ways you can help our church family finish the year strong and stay safe during the holiday season.

First, attend Christmas Eve and invite someone to come

Christmas Eve is an opportune time to invite a friend or loved one to a service to celebrate Jesus’ birth and to hear the good news of God’s love. This year we have three candlelight services, which will all be live streamed online:

Wednesday, Dec. 23rd at 7pm, & Thursday, Dec. 24th 4pm and 6pm

Pray about who the Lord would have you invite and reach out to them. Please reserve your spots, you’ll find they are filling quickly.

Next, honor our protocols for COVID-19

We are grateful that after six months of meeting in person for worship we have had no COVID outbreaks. We have worn masks, sat at a distance, and done the best we can to worship God together safely. We will continue to do so.

We pray and hope that no one in our church community gets the virus, but if you do we ask that you follow this CDC protocol before you return to the church campus for any event or activity.

If you are exposed:

-You may return after 5 days with no symptoms and a negative test or 7 days with no symptoms.

If you test positive:

-You may return after at least 10 days from the appearance of the first symptom, 24 hours with no fever and respiratory symptoms have improved or 24 hours after a negative test.

If you have Covid symptoms and are not tested:

-You may return after at least 10 days from the appearance of the first symptom, 24 hours with no fever and respiratory symptoms have improved or 24 hours after a negative test.

Lastly, continue to give and live generously

We praise God for His faithfulness to you and our church financially throughout this difficult year. Like I mentioned earlier this fall, we have remained in the black, however our reserves have dwindled down to little. In light of this, please continue to honor the Lord with your tithe and offerings.

We praise God for the generosity our church has shown in the past few months through providing household items for those who lost homes due to the local fires, Christmas shoe boxes for poor children around the world, tons of canned food items for struggling families in North Clackamas School District, and Christmas gifts for local survivors of human trafficking. Well done Sunnyside!

Our final global outreach opportunity is Adopt a Pastor. $50 provides food for a pastor and their family for an entire month! For more information please click here.

Through our prayers, participation, invitations, and generosity let’s continue to be involved in the miraculous mission of Jesus Christ. Pray with us for our services and a miraculous Christmas season for the families of Sunnyside!

Merry Christmas,

DJ & Jenny
